by Robert G. Barton (Author)

These are a series of stories, some short and some long, of some of the varied calls I responded to while working as a deputy sheriff for Palm Beach County, Florida, and two police departments, Rivera Beach and Palm Beach Gardens. These are by no means all the calls I answered in my career, they only represent a small portion of them. I wrote these stories years ago while they were still fresh in my memory, but as most people, I procrastinated and they have sat idle for years, moved numerous times and stored. My wife and Kids have for the longest time asked me to write them in book-style or at least put them on a computer. So, as I record them, some are funny, and some might bring a tear to the reader. They are in no order of occurrence and are written at random, but all are true. I thank my family for never giving up that one day I would eventually write these stories. I hope as a reader, you will enjoy them, and realize just what police officers and deputy sheriffs go through daily and appreciate them and what they do. All statutes or laws are what was in effect in the state of Florida at this time (1967 through 1977), and as you read these, I'm sure that some have been rescinded or changed.
