In the 1970s and 1980s, George worked in the City of London in international and corporate banking for over twenty years. A fluent linguist in four languages, including Italian, he was seconded to an Italian bank in Milan for a while in the late 1970s where he amassed a treasure box full of local knowledge and information from people who lived through the darkest days of Italy's Second World War experience.
