Her best-known work, \u003ci\u003eA Wrinkle in Time\u003c\/i\u003e, one of the most beloved young adult books of the twentieth century and a Newbery Medal winner, has sold more than fourteen million copies since its publication in 1962. Her other novels include \u003ci\u003eA Wind in the Door\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003e A Swiftly Tilting Planet\u003c\/i\u003e, and \u003ci\u003eA Ring of Endless Light\u003c\/i\u003e. Born in New York City, L'Engle graduated from Smith College and worked in theater, where she met her husband, actor Hugh Franklin.
