From the first word to the last, this book captures the mood and spirit of a Louisiana Woman. What makes us different are the high mountains we have to climb in this flat, swampy land. Joys that range as high as the highest mountain peak to sadness that plunges you down to the lowest marsh are what make us Louisiana Women. I found an old notebook from my freshman days in college and low and behold there was a free verse poem from 1973. I always knew there was something different about me. I finally realized as an adult in my late 30's that I was an artist. I started writing poems seriously in the 90's and still continue today. I compiled 49 poems of my own and included a poem by one of my children. This became "A Louisiana Woman". What makes all women different is what binds us together. We fight constantly not to just be another product of our environment, but to be a product of what God wants us to be.
