He has lived in the United States since 1976, with a four-year interlude in Jerusalem. He is the author of two previous works of fiction, \u003cb\u003eThe Hiding Room\u003c\/b\u003e\u003ci\u003e \u003c\/i\u003eand \u003cb\u003eSchoom\u003c\/b\u003e\u003ci\u003e. \u003c\/i\u003eHis stories, articles, essays, and reviews have appeared frequently in \u003ci\u003eThe New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, \u003c\/i\u003e\u003cb\u003eThe Best American Short Stories\u003c\/b\u003e\u003ci\u003e, \u003c\/i\u003eand elsewhere.
