For example, the bank orientation within Spain is built so that the corporate governance system relies heavily on the internal mechanisms of governance. Spain also bypasses the standard procedures of controlling shareholders mitigating conflicts between management and minority shareholders; instead, Spain allows controlling shareholders to mitigate the conflict between controlling shareholders and minority shareholders. Author Biography

Félix J. López-Iturriaga, PhD, is a Professor of Finance at University of Valladolid in Spain. He has been a visiting scholar at Boston College, John Hopkins University, and Columbia University; and also taught at University of Exeter (UK), the Innsbruck Universität and Graz Universität (Austria), the Université de Mons (Belgium), the Université de Rennes I (France), Skövde University (Sweden), Lüneburg Universität and Hochschule Augsburg (Germany), and many others. He has earned teaching awards, research awards, and published several books and many papers in international journals.
