These highlight the search for truth within the Society of Friends as well as the interest, concern, and occasional aggravation of those outside of the Society who found themselves trying to understand or navigate the Quaker point of view.

Author Biography

David Gross is also the editor of "We Won't Pay: A Tax Resistance Reader," and two collections of Thoreau's writing. He curates the blog "The Picket Line," and is a past member of the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee's administrative committee.
