Author Biography

Donald A. Perrot was born on Powers Bluff, near Arpin, WI in 1939. He was raised in a multi-lingual Native American community, and learned to speak Potawatomi, some Ojibwe, and Odawa, some Menominee, and some Winnebago by the time he entered school at age 6. He didn't learn to speak English until starting school at the age of six. These languages mentioned were very much in vogue among the people he lived with during his tenure as a youth, but Potawatomi became his staple language, as most of his family spoke this tongue privately.
