Author Biography
Having completed two-dozen long distance treks in the US, Canada and Europe, Carey Kish has twice hiked the 2,189-mile Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine (where he was bestowed with the trail name, "Beerman"), the 1,100-mile Florida Trail, the 2,653-mile Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, and the 2,600-mile Continental Divide Trail, also from Mexico to Canada. Carey is the author of AMC's Best Day Hikes Along the Maine Coast and the editor of the AMC Maine Mountain Guide.
Carey's basecamp is on the coast of his beloved state of Maine, right next to Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island, where he lives with his wife and favorite trail companion, Fran Leyman, and a mountain of well-used outdoor gear.
