When we were producing yearly Best New African Poets anthologies, we knew we could never achieve perfection, or right representation and balance. They were imperfect. So these anniversary anthologies are our opportunity to create strong scholarship in one area, to take a moment and look back at the journey and reflect on the coming future. This particular anthology only has poets writing in several African languages and collaborations of African poets.
