Author Biography

Writer, filmmaker George Van Noy lived on Topanga Beach during the classic era, 1958-1964. Full in the lifestyle of those rebel creators, he still writes, makes films and climbs philosophical peaks in Santa Monica and Hawaii. Directors Guild of America Member over 30 years. Cleary, Bill, lived on Topanga Beach a little longer, and then began his world around journeys in search of the perfect wave and the perfect place to raise his family. He was the editor of Surf Guide magazine and a great surfer of his era. He wrote "All the Young Wave Hunters" 1967, plus myriads of surf articles. He was a major factor in the creation of Miki Dora as an icon of surfing having written many early articles about him. He was said to have created the name "Da Cat" now applied to Miki.
