by Patricia Moyes (Author)

The Tibbetts have fond memories of the newly independent Caribbean nation of Tampica, but the island may have exchanged colonial rule for another set of shackles. The government is corrupt, and Tampica is now a haven for drug smugglers. Henry investigates, and in the process severely tests all assumptions about this innocent tropical paradise.

Author Biography

Patricia Moyes (1923-2000) was a British author best known for her "Henry Tibbett" series: traditional mysteries led by an unflappable Scotland Yard detective and his equally insightful wife, Emmy. During WWII Moyes joined the Royal Air Force and became a radar operator and flight officer. She later worked for actor and director Peter Ustinov, with whom she collaborated on a film script, and then at British Vogue. In the late 1950s she began turning out mysteries and continued to do so--with occasional breaks to write about her beloved cats--for the next 40 years. In 1999 she received an Agatha Award for Lifetime Achievement.
