Monica Gold, translator of this book by Heinz, Sponsel, remembered this book from her own youth and yearned to relocate it so that she could make it available to youngsters in the English speaking world. She has succeeded and has translated with fluid clarity this rich story of a blossoming of a scientist in a time when doctrine and accepted "truth" weighed against all he knew to be true.
