Author Biography

Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany. As a child, he spent much of his time in the Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. He married Margret Rey and the manuscript for the first Curious George book was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when escaping from Paris in 1940, and many Curious George books have followed.
