by Ireneo O. Namboka (Author)

In this book, the author considers Africa's past, present and likely future condition. He focuses on everyday aspects of life such as time - how conscious people are of it and its use; turning adversity into an opportunity to rise above trivia; treatment of Africans in Europe, and their attitudes before, during, and after independence. In the last three chapters, the book turns to what the author presents as largely self-inflicted suffering.

He invites fellow Africans, particularly those in power, to acknowledge that they did not take the necessary trouble to avoid the trap of foreign creditors. Similarly, the author challenges fellow men to abandon age-old attitudes which regard women as less endowed than men, and therefore inferior.

The author explains the problem of migrant workers - mostly women - on the continent and how they end up grossly exploited, abused, victimised, and sometimes ultimately killed. The causes of all the above are often the lack of good governance, and the non-observance of citizens' economic, social and cultural human rights.
