This work has become, over time, a milestone in Colombian literature and one of the most studied texts to understand the origin of the violence that still plagues this country today. Albalucía Angel managed to create with this story that recounts the life of a middle-class family and, simultaneously, two events that marked the history of Colombia: the murder of Jorge Eliécer Gaitán and the death of the guerrilla priest Camilo Torres.
