Faulding's little collection of fairy folklore is replete with both antiquated and then-modern material, with both poetry and prose coming from multiple cultures, and speaking not just of fairies, but of elves, brownies, and similar beings.

One part folkloric and one part theatrically romantic, it also seems to posit the otherworldly existence of such beings, and hints that such lore should be promoted as an alternative to the cold, secular world of the industrial period.
