This is the earliest of Arkansas county histories, and to a degree, the history of the entire state. It covers the period in Arkansas history from 1541 to 1873. The material, much of which is from French and Spanish sources, is arranged chronologically. The material that relates to Arkansas County has been abstracted from the county land, probate and court records.
