Author Biography

J. M. Parr was educated at Cambridge (Corpus), Cranfield, London (King's), Staffordshire, Sunderland and Surrey universities and holds a BA, MA, MBA, MSc and MPhil. He joined the UK Ministry of Defence in 1986 as a graduate specialist and spent a large part of his career in intelligence, working closely with all the major western intelligence agencies. The author was involved in the first gulf war on an intelligence collection mission and was back in Iraq two years later on Operation Provide Comfort. Since 2000 he has attended the Senior NATO course (97), been Head of Operation Rockingham (advice to the Prime Minister on WMD in Iraq) and advisor to the Governments of Nepal, Guatemala and Uganda on Security Sector Reform. He directed leadership research at the UK Defence Academy between 2008 and 2014 before becoming a full-time writer.
