In the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing, Gary Gatlin marches forth on new orders: coordinate the surrender of the Japanese military and assure that the negotiations lead to a lasting peace. Using a secret identity, Gary travels through a war-ravaged countryside plagued by bandits. Later, with the arrival of the American occupation forces, Gary again goes undercover to sleuth the intentions of the gathering international delegations. He discovers that a clandestine pack of Nazi die-hards are scheming to blow up the battleship USS Missouri during the surrender ceremonies and plunge the world back into total war. Gary joins a team of elite US Navy frogmen who brave the watery depths in a desperate attempt to stop the Nazis before it is too late.
