Braaten\u003c\/b\u003e (1929-2023) was an American Lutheran theologian. He earned his doctoral degree from Harvard Divinity School, where he studied under Paul Tillich. He served as professor of systematic theology at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago for nearly thirty years. In addition to teaching, Braaten cofounded and edited the journal \u003ci\u003eDialog\u003c\/i\u003e, cofounded the journal \u003ci\u003ePro Ecclesia\u003c\/i\u003e, and cofounded the Center for Catholic and Evangelical Theology. His many publications include \u003ci\u003ePrinciples of Lutheran Theology\u003c\/i\u003e; \u003ci\u003eMother Church: Ecclesiology and Ecumenism\u003c\/i\u003e;\u003ci\u003e Sin, Death, and the Devil\u003c\/i\u003e; and\u003ci\u003e The Strange New Word of the Gospel\u003c\/i\u003e. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cb\u003eRobert W. Jenson \u003c\/b\u003e(1930 -2017) was a leading Lutheran and ecumenical theologian. He served as codirector of the Institute for Theological Inquiry and was cofounder and longtime associate director of the Center for Catholic and Evangelical Theology.
