The author changes tempo, style and subject matter in an intriguing manner and often throws in a question or lesson of life for the reader to ponder. The reader also gains an insight into the author himself with his sharing of verse and several photographs taken directly from personal family albums or his own life experiences.

The author's use of photography to visually illustrate the verse is very effective. He is also quick to acknowledge the idea is not his own, and quotes the age old adage, "A picture is worth a thousand words," after which he adds, "and some poetry needs it."
