by Cleveland Brown (Author)

Cleveland Brown was born November 2, 1937, in Ashburn, Georgia, the only child of Jetty Brown and Arlene Brown. He was raised in Sibley, Georgia, during his early days and in Ashburn, Georgia, at the Stevens Street Projects during his Eureka High School days. As a teenager he helped his father make moonshine on the Williams farm in Sibley, Georgia, before they moved to Ashburn.

As an adult, Cleveland worked in several areas in north Georgia, but later he returned to his hometown to live. To his disappointment, he found race relations in Ashburn had not changed. Cleveland presents his thoughts about today's black youth, small town law enforcement, and who should be educating the African American child, among other subjects relevant to blacks living in the deep South.

This book is about Cleveland Brown's experiences as a black man living in the deep South, more particularly, Ashburn, Georgia. Ashburn, Turner County, has consistently scored in the lower one-third among the poorest counties in Georgia.
