A leader is not necessarily someone who graces the cover of a national magazine. A leader is not necessarily the head of a corporation or even of a small business-though everyone working underneath that person hopes he or she is. A leader is a connector, a communicator, a coach, a problem-solver, a decision-maker, and a team-builder. And to be all of these, a leader must self-manage well.

This book, written by a leader in his own right, is not a devotional, though it has some of that flavor. It is also not another leadership book meant to be read only and set aside. Rather, this book is about applying yourself to the daily practice of leadership, which means making a commitment, every day, to practice good self-management, high-touch connection and communication, and depth coaching, among other skills.
