by Lisa M. Cummins (Author), James T. Cummins (Author)

Messiah's Alphabet: Places Have Meaning explores the actual Hebrew meanings of some of the names of places mentioned in the Bible. Surprising discoveries will unfold as you connect the true meaning of each Hebrew name with its prophetic significance and fulfillment in Scripture. The hidden Hebrew meanings underlying the names of New Testament places are also brought to light. Explorations and exercises are provided along with answer keys located within the text. Free audio files of every lesson are available online. The book's approach and vocabulary are friendly to both Jewish and Gentile readers, so the text lends itself well to Bible study groups in either Messianic congregations or churches. Suitable for self-study, too. Prerequisites: A basic working knowledge of the Hebrew alphabet is very helpful but not absolutely necessary; transliterations (pronunciations) of all Hebrew, Greek and Latin names are provided throughout the text. (A separate workbook in the series, Messiah's Alphabet Book 1, is available for those who would like to learn the Hebrew alphabet. It provides a fun and gentle introduction to the Hebrew letters, teaching how to read, write and pronounce them.)

Author Biography

Jim Cummins has served as teacher, pastor, evangelist and ministry planter in a variety of denominational and non-denominational settings for more than 40 years. For at least 20 of those years, Jim has been used by the Lord to plant and lead Messianic congregations - places where Jews and non-Jews who believe in Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah and Savior worship and serve the Lord together. Throughout his years in ministry, Jim has taught Biblical Hebrew and Greek to small groups. This teaching experience determined the content and approach of this book. Lisa Cummins' ten years of experience in middle, high school and community college teaching inspired this book's friendly, workbook-style format, which she designed and typeset. She has served in both traditional Christian and Messianic settings for more than 25 years.
