"Strong Courageous Women," a collage series of icons by artist B. Joan Hickey, began as an interdisciplinary thesis in Art History in 1994. Since then, selected pieces of the series have been exhibited at Zilka Gallery, Wesleyan University; Unitarian Society of New Haven; Hartford College for Women; Prague Conservatory; the Guilford Free Library, and the Guilford Art Center. The entire collection was featured in the exhibit MYTH REDRAWN: Strong, Courageous Women, hosted by the Mary C. Daly Gallery at Mercy By the Sea in Madison, Connecticut from September to November, 2015.
