The 98-meter rocket reached the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida's launch region on Wednesday. The rocket traveled more than 10 hours to traverse the six and a half kilometers to the launch site.
The first SLS rocket launch will be named as Artemis 1 by NASA. The initial voyage of the spacecraft will not have any crew members on board. NASA's Orion spacecraft will fly on SLS for a test mission to circle the moon.
American astronauts will reach the moon no early than 2025, according to Artemis. Since NASA's Apollo 17 mission in 1972, this would be the first human lunar landing.
