Hawkins\u003c\/b\u003e (1937-2022) received his PhD from Vanderbilt University. He went on to teach at Washington \u0026amp; Lee University and the University of Georgia before settling in at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he was a professor for over a quarter of a century. David Briley\u003c\/b\u003e presides over the First Circuit Court in Davidson County, Tennessee. Judge Briley previously served as an At-Large Member and Vice Mayor of the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County. During that service, he focused on ethics, budget, solid waste, and government efficiency issues.
