Nestled deep in a dark hollow on a lonely point in the hills of West Virginia, there lies a few flat rocks, the only remains of the log cabin home where Mother and Dad and we seven children lived. Much of the poetry in this book is based on facts and real persons that have touched my life so deeply. I owe all I am to these people, and to my old log cabin home. Shyness inhibits the freedom of speech, Restraining true feelings within. Desire and duty demanded a breach, So I quietly turned to the pen.

Author Biography

Mike Vandine was raised in a log cabin in the hills of West Virginia. The life lessons learned there carried through the rest of his life - to never look down on those in need and always appreciate what you have. He left the hills and went into the service for six years, then worked in the steel mill until he retired. He and his wife Jolene raised two children and became members of the Church of Christ. He owes all he is to his family, friends, and especially his God.
