by Michael K. Brinkman (Author)

This work is a continuation of Brinkman's previous books, Quincy, Illinois, Immigrants from M nsterland, Westphalia, Germany, Volumes I and II. This book lists the German immigrants in Quincy, who came from the Emsland, Oldenburger M nsterland and Osnabr cker Land. Quincy's German immigrants came from many different areas in Germany, including Baden, Westphalia, Hanover, Oldenburg, East Frisia, Hesse, Bavaria, Thuringia and Wuertemberg. The majority of Quincy's German immigrants were Niederdeutsch (from northwestern Germany): 1,100 are covered in this work and 1,500 from the author's previous work. The author's preliminary research has identified an additional 2,200 persons who are known to have immigrated to Quincy from the Westphalian regions of Paderborn, Arnsberg and especially Herford/Bielefeld. Hundreds more came here from East Frisia. Biographical entries include: date and place of birth, surname, given name, date of marriage, emigration, town in Germany, death in Quincy, occupation, residence, migration, and sources. This work contains an addendum (additions and corrections) to Quincy, Illinois, Immigrants from M nsterland, Westphalia, Germany, Vol. II. Corrected and expanded entries used the same number as in the original. Maps and a surname index add to the value of this work. 2015, 51/2x81/2, paper, index, 528 pp.
