Author Biography

Upon turning thirty, wanna-be missionary Angela Schans could no longer bear living the American dream, while merely hoping and waiting for God to use her on the foreign mission field. In a late night moment of brokenness, she had an epiphany that would forever alter the course of her life. What if God was waiting for her to do something He could bless and empower, such as writing a book that would go into all the world, and be a part of fulfilling the Great Commission? Taking a practical view of what she had to offer as a wife, mother of four, and a substitute teacher, she felt she had nothing but her pen, paper, and creativity. Gathering inspiration from other biblical historical works such as Michael Card's Wedding Song, (a song about Mary the mother of Jesus asking Him to solve the wine problem, ) and the talent and depth of Francine River's Mark of the Lion Series, Angela took on her most courageous mission of modern historical fiction, writing Raising Jesus. Her 10+ year writer's journey was marked by many moments of discouragement turned to confidence through sovereign miracles along with practical supports. These supports included the help of a writing mentor, two local writers' critique groups, some writers' conferences, a college course on writing fiction, studies on the days of Christ and ancient Judaism, and travel to Israel for the first-hand experience of the world Mary reared Jesus in. Working through the power of entertainment, Angela's passion is to infuse her readers, both believers, and unbelievers, with growing love and faith in Jesus.
