seasons of a girl is collection of poetry which explores the intersection of external observation of the natural world and the internal experiences of change and growth.

"for as my body decays and falls apart, / what's inside will have only more cracks / through which to shine. / more cracks through which to shine." So ends Brooke Davidson's poem reflecting upon the aging process. In "realistic expectations" she challenges her reader to examine the untenable pressures they place on themselves as she writes, "nothing in the natural world / blooms / and flowers / and bears fruit / year round. / and here you are / so ignorantly expecting it of yourself." In the poem "perspective" she examines the relatable experience of struggle within relationship when writing, "baby iguanas / spend their first day of life / outrunning racer snakes. / and here we are: / bickering over whose turn it is to make dinner."
