Young Alice appears to have inherited her abilities from her granny, also named Alice Waterhouse.

In 1940, Charles Waterhouse meets an exotic, mysterious American woman at a village dance. Their love affair blossoms quickly, but some in the village suspect she may be a German spy.

Over four decades of unresolved tragedy in one family may be finally explained if little Alice can persuade Mary and Alan that there is something unearthly under the bowling green.
