Contrary to the received wisdom that "hidden" Jews stayed in attics and cellars and had minimal contact with the outside world, the author reveals a cohort of remarkable individuals who were constantly on the move and actively fought to ensure their own survival.

Author Biography

Richard N. Lutjens, Jr. is an Assistant Professor of History at Texas Tech University. He received his doctorate in 2012 in modern European history from Northwestern University, where he specialized in the history of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.
