Her second book, \u003ci\u003eNever Caught: The Washingtons' Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge\u003c\/i\u003e was a 2017 finalist for the National Book Award in nonfiction and a winner of the 2018 Frederick Douglass Book Award. She is also the author of \u003ci\u003eShe Came to Slay\u003c\/i\u003e, an illustrated tribute to Harriet Tubman, and \u003ci\u003eSusie King Taylor\u003c\/i\u003e and is the co-executive producer of the HBO series \u003ci\u003eThe Gilded Age\u003c\/i\u003e. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003eCandace Buford has always been drawn to stories with strong and complex people of color.
