William Heyen is a well-known and revered writer, and author of some twenty-five books of poetry, memoir, criticism, and poetics. His book Shoah Train was a finalist for the National Book Award.
Author Biography
William Heyen: William Heyen was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1940 of German immigrant parents. His undergraduate degree is from SUNY Brockport where he was a two-year All American soccer player, and his graduate degrees are from Ohio University. A former Senior Fulbright Lecturer in American literature in Germany, he has won fellowships and awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the NEA, and the American Academy & Institute of Arts & Letters. He is the author of some twenty-five books of poetry, memoir, criticism, and poetics. Shoah Train: Poems, was a finalist for the National Book Award. Heyen is Professor of English/Poet in Residence Emeritus at SUNY Brockport.
