Author Biography
Arthur Machen was born in 1863 in Caerleon, Wales. Though his early novella "The Great God Pan" was a success, the erotic and occult content of some of his works sidelined them for years. In the 1920s, however, his writing was finally recognized as the work of a genius. His best-known books include The Three Imposters, The House of Souls, and his masterpiece The Hill of Dreams. He died in 1947.
