Rock hyraxes are very common in East Africa. Their habitat tends to be rocky areas where they can hide from predators rather than in a mogogos, which many families still use for cooking meals. However, when Chiumbo discovers a pregnant rock hyrax in his family's mogogos he responds by becoming a caregiver and growing up substantially in the process.
