Author Biography

Prof. Alan Macfarlane, FBA, FRHistS, taught at the Department of Social Anthropology Cambridge University for more than 30 years and is now Emeritus Professor of Anthropological Science and a Life Fellow of King's College, Cambridge. He is the author or editor of 20 books and numerous articles on the anthropology and history of England, Nepal, Japan and China.
