The book uses various road and traffic signs to symbolize the problems a new convert can encounter when he/she begins the journey of faith. The author uses examples from her own personal struggles as a young Christian who was trying to fit into what was "an adult only club". It discusses bumps in the road, road work ahead as the persecutions or trials that can slow down or hinder the successful completion of the trip. Perception and listening for direction deals with how well the reader is able to adapt to the changing landscapes as the road narrows. It also ventures into developing a personal worshipful relationship with God, and becoming personally responsible for individual growth and development in Christendom.
