He was awarded Doctor honoris causa in technology by Lund \u003cbr\u003eUniversity, Sweden in 2001.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\tBorn in Sweden, he holds degrees in engineering (Sweden), architecture \u003cbr\u003e(UC Berkeley) and urban design (GSD, Harvard). Lerup has written several\u003cbr\u003e books: Villa Prima Facie 1976, Building the Unfinished 1977 (also \u003cbr\u003epublished in German), Planned Assaults 1987 (also published in Chinese), \u003cbr\u003e After the City 2000, and some fifty essays in international magazines. \u003cbr\u003eHis most recent book One Million Acres and No Zoning was published in \u003cbr\u003e2010.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\tLerup's art and design work includes drawings, paintings, architectural\u003cbr\u003e projects and competitions for new towns (Taipei, Taiwan), buildings, \u003cbr\u003ehouses (California, Texas and Switzerland) and furniture. His work has \u003cbr\u003ebeen exhibited in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Paris, \u003cbr\u003eBerlin, Rome, Zurich, Moscow and Stockholm.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\tLerup was elected Swedish American by Vasa Orden in 2004.
