After\u003cbr\u003e attending Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, he\u003cbr\u003e took the degrees of MDiv and ThM at Westminster\u003cbr\u003e Theological Seminary. From 1977-82, he was a lecturer\u003cbr\u003e in biblical studies at Trinity Ministerial Academy, \u003cbr\u003e Montville, New Jersey. Thereafter, he obtained the\u003cbr\u003e PhD from the University of Durham, completing a\u003cbr\u003e thesis on The Obedience of Faith: A Pauline Phrase in\u003cbr\u003e Historical Context, under the supervision of James D.\u003cbr\u003e G. Dunn. From 1987-2002, he was professor of New\u003cbr\u003e Testament at Toronto Baptist Seminary. From 2004-06 he\u003cbr\u003e was Adjunct Professor of New Testament at Tyndale\u003cbr\u003e Seminary, Toronto.
