The Road That Leads Home, as was its predecessor, Letters From the Hills, is based on the characters I knew growing up in the hills of Middle Tennessee during the 1940's and 1950's. My childhood years were years filled with poverty and hardship. The people I knew were mostly in the same economic and cultural deprivation that I was.
