Wheeler is the founder of the blended family resource site, Stepdadding.com. He is a speaker, author of research papers, contributor to international parenting websites and writes a monthly column for Birth and Beyond 360 magazine. Throughout his career Wheeler's research has focused on the struggles of blended families and the challenges couples face when they re-marry with kids. Single parent re-marriages fail more than any other marriage category. Wheeler set out to find out why and discovered lack of preparation was the key factor. Wheeler's research showed couples who understood the challenges were more likely to succeed.
