Christmas is Sweden like other European nations is a mixture of traditional and new. The Swedish climate and location naturally lends itself to Christmas traditions, decorations and atmosphere. The main Christmas meal is on Christmas Eve - 24th December - with a famous Julbord, a buffet of numerous dishes over several courses. Dishes include meats such as ham and meatballs, various herring dishes and smoked salmon, and a wonderful array of biscuits and desserts.
