Tickled by the Turning Tide: The Folkestone Poems is Tony's first collection of poetry. All thirty three verses have been inspired by his adopted home of Folkestone on the south eastern coast of Kent, just twenty two miles from the European mainland.

Tony's poems range over key moments in the town's history, from its fishing heritage to its role as a port of embarkation for war, and from its period as a fashionable seaside resort, which welcomed royalty and writers, to its decline and subsequent regeneration as an art and dining destination. He also explores aspects of modern living in a town that is changing rapidly.

The poems are in turns celebratory, nostalgic, melancholy and even angry, and are invested with Tony's characteristic wry wit and authority.
