She has been a part of the CEOs organization with West Virginia University. She was the county president and conference chair of the 2000 Jackson's Mill State Conference. She helped to organize the Family Resource Network in Hinton. Erma has been a part of the breast cancer fundraiser \"Walk for Her Lifetime\" for the past 20 years. She has devoted time to volunteering with the Summers County and the Jumping Branch Elementary School libraries. She currently serves as a board member of the Main Street Nursing Home in Hinton.
