She currently resides in Brampton, Ontario, part of the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. She holds a PhD in social justice education from the University of Toronto. Her children's book, \u003ci\u003eAbuelita and Me\u003c\/i\u003e, was published in 2022. She is the winner of \u003ci\u003eBriarpatch Magazine\u003c\/i\u003e's Writing in the Margins contest, was shortlisted for \u003ci\u003ePRISM International\u003c\/i\u003e's short forms contest, and won \u003ci\u003eRoom\u003c\/i\u003e's 2018 short forms contest for her piece, \"White Spaces Brown Bodies.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eAYELET TSABARI\u003c\/b\u003e was born in Israel to a large family of Yemeni descent. She wrote her first story in English in 2007. She is the author of \u003ci\u003eThe Art of Leaving\u003c\/i\u003e, winner of the Canadian Jewish Literary Award for Memoir and finalist for the Writer's Trust Hilary Weston Prize. Her first book, \u003ci\u003eThe Best Place on Earth\u003c\/i\u003e, won both the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature and the Edward Lewis Wallant Award for Jewish Fiction. She co-edited the anthology, \u003ci\u003eTongues: On Longing and Belonging through Language\u003c\/i\u003e.\u003ci\u003e\u003c\/i\u003eShe teaches creative writing at The University of King's College MFA, the University of Guelph Creative Writing MFA, and at Tel Aviv University.
