He was elected to the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1972 and to the Parisian Académie Mallarmé in 1977. He visited Britain on several occasions, attending the London Poetry International and Cambridge Poetry Festivals. \u003cb\u003eAnne Pennington\u003c\/b\u003e: Anne Pennington (1934-1981) was a Fellow of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford where she held the Chair of Comparative Slavonic Philology. Her other translations include \u003ci\u003eMarko the Prince: Serbo-Croat heroic songs\u003c\/i\u003e (in collaboration with Peter Levi) and Popa's selection of folk poetry, \u003ci\u003eThe Golden Apple\u003c\/i\u003e (with Andrew Harvey). \u003cbr\u003e \u003cb\u003eFrancis R. Jones\u003c\/b\u003e: Francis R. Jones (b. 1955) lectures in English as a foreign language at the University of Newcastle. His other translations include the Dutch poet Hans Faverey's \u003ci\u003eAgainst the Forgetting\u003c\/i\u003e (Anvil, 1995) and several collections of poems by the Serbian poet, Ivan V. Lalic.
