The fact that they grieve is not something we think about, but it does happen to them. However, despite their suffering, they keep their emotions inside for the sake of their family.

When Cherry Blossoms Bloom is written with the person diagnosed in mind. Oftentimes we never stop to think that they go through the grief stages. From the diagnosis to cure or death they can go through some or all the stages.

Some of their needs are discussed in this book along with ways in which they can be supported. In addition to caring about others, they need to know it's okay to speak up and concentrate on themselves. Examples of an individual's emotional struggles were dramatized to illustrate a different perspective in order to underscore the importance of placing the focus on that individual rather than the diagnosis.
